Child Welfare at CJFC

Playing football should be safe and fun. Children and young people have a right to be treated with respect, and should show respect to others.

We work to create a safe environment, promoting positive behaviours, and have procedures in place to address any concerns or incidents of abuse.

We are fully committed to the Child Protection and Safeguarding Guidelines set down by the FA. As we are a FA Charter Standard Club our policies and procedures are regularly checked by the Surrey FA.

Equality, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI)

Everyone is welcome at Churt Juniors FC.

We are committed to making football safe, welcoming, and inclusive for all children, regardless of race, gender, religion, ability, or background.

We do not tolerate discrimination or abuse of any kind. All our staff and volunteers follow the FA's Respect and Inclusion Guidelines to ensure every child feels valued and respected.

Reporting Concerns

Speak Up - We're Here to Help. If you're worried about a child or something you've seen, we urge you to speak up.

  • If the issue is one of poor practice the Club Welfare Officer will either: deal with the matter themselves or seek advice from the CFA Welfare Officer.
  • If the concern is more serious - possible child abuse, contact the CFA Welfare Officer first, we will then immediately contact the Police or Children's Social Care.
  • If the child needs medical treatment take them to a hospital or call an ambulance and tell them this is a child protection concern. Let your Club Welfare Officer know what action you have taken, they in turn will inform the CFA Welfare Officer.

If at any time you are not able to contact your Club Welfare Officer or the matter is clearly serious then you can Contact your CFA Welfare Officer directly safeguarding@surreyfa.com.

Mental Health and Wellbeing

Football is more than a game-it's about friendships, belonging, and personal development. Churt Juniors supports player well-being through a safe and caring environment where children can speak openly.

We are working in line with The FA's "The Greater Game" initiative, which champions mental health, healthy habits, and emotional resilience.

Coaches and Welfare Officers have access to training to support players dealing with emotional or mental challenges.
