It is with deep sadness that Churt Juniors Football Club share the news of the unexpected death of Luis Guembes, one of our Under 16 players. At this time we cannot share any further details.
This shocking loss has deeply affected our whole club and Luis will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Our thoughts and prayers are with Luis’s family and friends at this unimaginably difficult time.
We appreciate this is extremely upsetting news, particularly for his teammates. Throughout this week, the club has been working with relevant organisations to ensure appropriate support and care is available for players, parents and coaches.
We encourage parents to speak with their children and support them as they process what has happened.
The club has found the Child Bereavement UK website to be a helpful resource for families and young people seeking guidance.
The club will continue to work closely with our Under 16 coaches and with Luis’s family, and we will share further information only if and when it is appropriate to do so.
We kindly ask that the privacy of Luis’s family, teammates and coaches is respected at this very difficult time.
Thank you for the compassion, sensitivity and support shown by our community and the wider football family during this very sad time.
